GLENHAVEN FC COACHING COORDINATOR - GERARD MARINO

Gerard Marino is our new Coaching Coordinator for the 2025 season. If you are having any issues or need further support throughout the season, please contact Gerard via email coaching@glenhavenfc.com.
Gerard will also be at most training sessions for U6 - U10 to support coaches throughout the season.

WHAT TO EXPECT  ?

Gerard will aim to deliver clear guidance, consistent support, and a shared identity for enhancing Football development and Coaching evolution at Glenhaven FC.

My goal is aim to inspire and elevate players and coaches within our community football club.
My vision is to Implement a Learning culture as opposed to a Know it all culture and encourage coaching education

CLUB PLAYER PROGRAM - (U6 & U7 Teams)

  • Hills Football will be running session plans for U6 and U7 teams each Wed night at the training grounds.
  • Hills Football coaches will spend time with the coaches at the start of the training session to go through the session plan with and then support you as you implement the session plan with your teams.
  • This helps to maintain consistency with coaching the younger age groups
  • This is an 8 week program starting on the 26th March 2025 and is free to all coaches.

GOAL KEEPER TRAINING

We will run goalkeeper training sessions during the year. Communication to follow on TeamApp.

These sessions are great for all players in ages U8 and above to attend to increase their confidence in player goalie during games.

COACHING TRAITS

Age appropriate coaching - Player development objectives are different;

  • (5-8 yrs old) Discovery phase
  • (9-12 yrs old) Skill acquisition phase
  • (13-16 yrs old) Game training phase
  • (16+ yrs old) Performance phase

Let's set the standard and aim to be the benchmark together. Coach your child, coach your child’s friend(s), Inspire others to develop a love for the beautiful game, encourage others to come to Glenhaven FC and build a footballing community we can all be proud of.

CODE OF CONDUCT

Coaches, parents and spectators have a responsibility to support a child’s football activities in a positive way, both on and off the field. This includes being a role model by encouraging good behaviour, not only in your own child, but also their team mates, coach, manager and other spectators. Supporting your child and their team is natural, but it needs to be done in a positive and harassment-free environment.

As a coach, parent or spectator, I will:

  • Remember that children participate in sport for their enjoyment, not yours.
  • Encourage children to participate, not force them.
  • Focus on a child’s efforts and performance rather than whether they win or lose.
  • Encourage children to play according to the rules and to settle disagreements without resorting to hostility or violence.
  • Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a game.
  • Not engage in harassment or abuse in any form, including the use of obscene or offensive language or gestures.
  • Respect officials’ decisions and teach children to do likewise.
  • Remember that children learn best by example. I will therefore appreciate good performance, skill and sportsmanship by all participants.
  • Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them, your child could not participate.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

I understand that if I do not follow this Code, any/all of the following actions may be taken by the club or competition administrator (Hills Football). I may:

  • Be required to apologise to other parents, the other team and the referee.
  • Receive a formal warning from the club committee.
  • Be suspended from attending matches.
  • The competition administrator may impose a fine, suspension or loss of competition points against my team or club.
  • My child’s registration may be cancelled.

IMPORTANT

Contact the club’s Member Protection Officer at mpo@glenhavenfc.com if you are unhappy about any behaviour you see at Glenhaven Football Club.
